Researchers in Italy say they have discovered two previously unknown cannabinoids. Vice reports that the researchers are claiming that one, tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THCP) is 30 times more potent than THC. But they did not say whether this cannabinoid is psychoactive. The second cannabinoid they claim to have discovered is cannabidiphorol (CBDP), which they say is a cousin to CBD.

The strain used in the research was FM2, which is grown by Italy’s Military. The article says that the new cannabinoids could be more or less present in other strains, and it isn’t yet clear how they could be useful. Only more research, including clinical trials, will tell.
