As the world deals with Covid-19 concerns, many businesses have suffered. But, as reported by MJBizDaily.com, Canadian cannabis stores are seeing an “unprecedented demand” for cannabis products. One industry CEO, Darren Bondar of Spiritleaf, said that cannabis sales over this past weekend were up 20% in his 46 stores. He also indicated that the stores saw a record number of customers over the weekend.

Although stores are experiencing record sales and customer counts, Bondar says the supply chain is in good shape, and stores are not in danger of running out of product. He also indicated that the edibles category has seen a particularly strong uptick in sales. Steven Fry, CEO of Sessions Cannabis, said that their Ontario stores saw a 21% overall sales growth this weekend vs. the previous weekend, and he speculates the reason is the same as the surge at grocery stores – social distancing recommendations due to Covid-19 concerns.
