Whoopi’s Cannabis Company is No More
Four years after starting a cannabis company with Om Edibles founder Maya Elisabeth, Whoopi Goldberg has shut down the brand. According to a story on CNN Business, the company, Whoopi & Maya closed because of personal differences between the two co-founders as well as issues surrounding operational adjustments around California’s Prop 64 regulations.

The cannabis brand was created four years ago to focus on women’s health, with a specific concentration on menstrual cramps. It was almost cash-flow positive prior to California’s Prop 64 regulations being put in place, according to the article, quoting Rick Cusick, a member of the Whoopi & Maya board. But struggling to keep up with regulations, coupled with the founders “wanting a divorce” forced the business to shut down, Cusick said.
