Utah Picks Cannabis Pharmacy Winners

Of the 60 companies that applied for retail dispensary (“pharmacy”) licenses in Utah, the state has chosen 10, with a total of 14 locations. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that state health officials announced the winners on Friday.

Of the 14 locations for the state of Utah, three will be located in Salt Lake City. The other 11 are planned to operate in Provo, Park City, Ogden, Logan, St. George, and several other cities (see graphic in original article). Of the licenses issued, eight will be allowed to open on March 1st of this year, and the other six will need to wait until July 1st.

The article quotes Desiree Hennessy, the executive director of the Utah Patients Coalition as saying, “I’m hopeful that this is one of the last pieces of the puzzle that we’re putting in place to get Utah patients the medications that we’ve been fighting for, for years.”
