This Marathoner Credits Weed for His Success in Overcoming Addiction
40-year-old Shawn Davies used to be addicted to drugs and alcohol. But, as reported in The GrowthOp, he made some radical life changes, including taking up running and smoking more marijuana. He is now an athlete in training for the Boston Marathon and says weed helped him get to where he is today.

As quoted in the article, Davies says, “I just feel like cannabis grounds me — I don’t see it as a drug and I never have. I run twice a day, in the morning and night. And the running, just like the cannabis, helps keep me from partying. Honestly, it helps keep me sane.”
While Davies smokes weed daily, he rejects the idea that it’s an addiction. Like running, he says, it keeps him grounded and he considers it a medication, no different from how people take Tylenol when needed. He applauds that the stigma around cannabis is beginning to change but acknowledges the change is slow.
