There Might Not be Any CBD in Your Pet’s CBD Product

The growing popularity of CBD products isn’t confined to humans. Many people purchase CBD tinctures and treats for their pets. But, as Fox2 out of St. Louis reports, some of those products don’t actually have any CBD in them. According to the article, Cornell University researcher, Joseph Wakshlag, says their research has found that an alarming number of so-called CBD pet products have no CBD at all, or as little as 2mg per milliliter, an amount that is essentially useless in treating anything.

While the FDA is working on regulations for marketing CBD to people and pets, the federal government currently has no established standards on CBD products, so these fraud products are able to go to market unnoticed by regulators. The article quotes Wakshlag as saying, “There are plenty of folks looking to make a dollar rather than produce anything that’s really beneficial.”
