Spokesman for Trump Campaign Says Weed Must be “Kept Illegal”
Marc Lotter, the Director of Strategic Communications for the Trump 2020 campaign says that President Trump’s position is that cannabis and other drugs that are currently legal at the federal level should stay that way. A post on the Forbes website quotes Lotter as saying, “I think … the president is looking at … this from a standpoint of a parent of a young person to make sure that we keep our kids away from drugs.”

While Trump has previously expressed that his administration will allow states to decide for themselves whether to legalize marijuana, Jeff Sessions, his first attorney general, revoked the Obama administration’s policies on states’ rights in this area. Although, as reported previously, Justice Department prosecutors did not follow suit in adopting his changes and basically still follow the Obama rules.
