No Jail Time for Low-Level Marijuana Possession in Hawaii Now
As of yesterday (Jan 11, 2020), a bill that takes jail time off the table in many weed possession cases is in effect, in the state of Hawaii. Marijuana Moment reports that the bill was allowed to pass by Hawaii’s governor, without his endorsement. The new law covers possession cases involving 3g or less of marijuana.

Those who are caught in possession of 3 grams or less of weed will be subject to a fine of $130, without the threat of going to jail. Hawaii is the 26th state to remove incarceration as a punishment for low-level cannabis possession. But their new cannabis law provides a much lower threshold than many other states with similar statutes.
