Medical Cannabis Patients Fight to Shed the Stoner Stigma
While the cannabis industry has come a long way, and legalization in the majority of states means a wider demographic entering the market, the stigma of marijuana users as stoners persists in many circles. As reported on Yahoo! Lifestyle, some patients moving from the opiate backlash to medical marijuana face a whole new stigma to them – the stoner stigma.

The article comes from one such patient who was able to stop her daily doses of 60mg oxymorphone and 30mg oxycodone by transitioning to Sativex, a 1:1 THC:CBD tincture. Although the change made a significant positive impact in her life, her doctor poopooed it, and her friends began sending her stoner-themed memes on the regular. It seemed no one was taking the therapeutic use of cannabis seriously. As she states in the post, “Laws may have changed, but perception takes so much longer to change.”
