Marijuana Industry Still a Big Job Creator Despite Recent Layoffs
Anyone who follows cannabis news can attest to the fact that there has been a lot of turmoil in the industry in the past year. Stories of stock downturns and layoffs seem to be everywhere. But, as CannabisNow reports, the cannabis job sector is still strong. In fact, the legal marijuana industry continues to be one of the fastest growing job markets in the U.S., despite receiving no help from the federal government.

Throughout the U.S. the legal weed industry employs about 240,000 people. And, even though there have been layoffs and instability over the last year, that number is still up 15% (or about 33,000 jobs) from a year ago.
So, despite the gloom and doom that sometimes dominates the news surrounding the cannabis industry, significant numbers of cannabis companies outside the news continue to grow and add jobs to the economy (although those jobs are not reported by the Bureau of Labor in their monthly report).
