Iowans Head to Illinois to Buy Legal Weed
As we reported here, Illinois dispensaries opened their doors to recreational users yesterday. And, as KCCI out of Des Moines, Iowa reports, Illinois residents weren’t the only ones excited by the new law. Dispensaries on the border of Illinois and Iowa saw heavy traffic, some of which was from Iowans crossing the border to purchase weed.

Some quotes from Iowans buying product in Illinois included one man saying, “(I’m) tired of waiting for it to happen in Iowa,” and another stating that he wasn’t worried about the legal ramifications of bringing cannabis from Illinois back home to Iowa. “I don’t care,” he said. Iowa citizens said that it was safer to buy from legal dispensaries in Illinois than to purchase from black market dealers, even though they are still breaking laws prohibiting transporting marijuana over state lines, and Iowa’s laws forbidding possession of weed.
