Hottest Cannabis Market for 2020 is…Oklahoma?
We all know the cannabis markets in states such as Illinois, California, and Colorado are hot. But, according to a piece on the Investment U site, Oklahoma could be a sleeping giant for the cannabis industry. Since passing a bill to legalize medical marijuana in 2018, Oklahoma has been recognized as the state with the most liberal medical cannabis laws in the U.S.

The rapid growth of the Oklahoma cannabis market is due in part to the fact that, unlike every other medically-legal state, Oklahoma does not have a list of approved conditions for which you can be prescribed medical cannabis. You can get a prescription for any condition. This has led to Oklahoma approving over 235,000 patient licenses, the highest prescription rate of any state, according to the Marijuana Policy Project.
Additionally, only Oregon tops Oklahoma for the most dispensaries per 100,000 residents, and their medical cannabis sales exceeded those of Nevada, Illinois, Maryland, and Ohio last year – their first year of legalization.
