In 2018 CBD was decriminalized and, those three initials became familiar to Americans all over the United States. Assuming you have also heard of THC, the most common and popular active ingredient found in cannabis plants with psychoactive producing effects. CBD is the second most prevalent active ingredient found in cannabis plants. CBD does not produce any psychoactive effects. THC and CBD both have therapeutical effects such as reducing chronic pain and helping to reduce anxiety depression. But this leads to the question at hand, what is CBDV?

What is CBDV?

CBDV, or Cannabidivarden, is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and hemp plants. CBDV has almost an identical molecular structure to CBD. CBDV can typically be found in Indica strains. CBDV is known for its help with medical ailments and disorders. CBDV also aids in the treatment of conditions such as HIV and AIDS, nausea, seizures, Chron’s disease, anxiety, depression, Multiple Sclerosis, and Colitis.

CBDV and Epilepsy

Epilepsy affects nearly 50 million people worldwide. Epilepsy is a disease that affects the central nervous system. When brain activity becomes abnormal, seizures can occur. There are over 30 different types of seizures a person can suffer from. Some episodes include staring into space, falling, confusion, and the most recognizable kind of seizure, uncontrollable jerking of arms and legs. Although severe damage and death from a seizure are rare, it is a possibility. Deaths involving seizures usually happen because of external factors like choking or blunt force trauma.

Cannabidivarden, or CBDV, is considered a superior product to its cousin, CBD. This fact is due to its solid, anticonvulsant properties. A study was done in 2012 testing the anticonvulsant properties of CBDV. There are meager amounts of THC found in plants with CBDV. Researcher’s state, “These results indicate that CBDV is an effective anticonvulsant in a broad range of seizure models. Also, it did not significantly affect normal motor function and, therefore, merits further investigation as a novel anti-epileptic”.

CBDV and Other Studies

A study has also been performed on CBDV in correlation with nausea. This study focused on the benefits CBDV might have on nausea. CBDV shows promise in relieving nausea symptoms, which is excellent for those who suffer from gastrointestinal issues.

Many studies are happening right now on CBDV, and every day scientists are finding new ways to use this wonder drug, including CBDVs, ability to potentially heal broken bones by assisting stem cells. There is hope, CBDV could even benefit those who suffer from spinal cord injuries.

What is CBDV? – Conclusion

CBDV is commonly applied or ingested in an oil formulation. The majority of CBDV oils are intended to be taken sublingually, otherwise known as placing a few drops beneath the tongue and holding it there for a few moments until absorption. If CBDV seems to be something you are interested in trying, check with your local dispensary.
