Cannabis History: The War on Cannabis
Well before Richard Nixon made marijuana a schedule-1 drug in the 70s, the war on cannabis was already raging. An article in The MIT Press Reader details the history of the war on marijuana, stating, “Prohibitionists around the world have long used rhetoric to associate the plant with violence and depravity.”

The article details a long history of struggle by farmers, consumers, and advocates of marijuana throughout the last several hundred years, spanning every corner of the globe.
