In an effort to fast-track cannabis delivery amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission will release applications on the 28th of May. According to Cannabis Business Times, licenses would be granted for adult-use cannabis delivery in the state. The application process may include verification of tax and insurance information, as well as capital resource confirmation, in a potential “pre-certification” process.

Massachusetts Cannabis Deliver Applications

The first two years of licensing approvals will be reserved for social equity and economic empowerment applicants, according to the article. The aim of the programs is to bolster cannabis business ownership among minorities, people with prior cannabis possession convictions, and others who have been disproportionately affected by the war on drugs.

The new licenses will be granted for delivery-only services, not currently permitted in Massachusetts. Medical cannabis dispensaries in the state are already allowed to deliver product to patients under current licensing rules.
