Black Market Weed Winning the Price War in Canada
While illegal cannabis was already cheaper than legal cannabis in Canada, a new study says the price gap between black market and legal weed has increased. According to a post on Ottawamatters.com, Statistics Canada has released a report showing that legal marijuana prices increased from $9.69 per gram in the fourth quarter of 2018 to $10.30 a gram in the fourth quarter of 2019.

At the same time the price for legal weed in Canada increased, black market product decreased from $6.44 per gram to just $5.73 per gram. That makes the difference $4.57 per gram, in favor of illegal product. Even the lowest legal cannabis price, found in Quebec at $7.88 per gram was higher than the highest average illegal price of $6.21 per gram in Ontario.
