9-Year-Old with Tourette’s Finally Gets Relief with Cannabis
Jaxon Whetzel, a 9-year-old from Lawton, Oklahoma with a mild form of autism and Tourette’s syndrome, had a rough time until recently. As reported on ABC7 News, Jaxon was in pain from repeated severe tics caused by his condition, and he was teased at school and misunderstood by his teachers. But then his parents heard about the possible benefits of medical marijuana for his condition, and their lives changed.

Jaxon’s father, Daniel Whetzel, says that his son went from severe, painful tics and outbursts to calm and relaxed, literally overnight. “The next day [after a single marijuana gummy] we sat there and watched him…and he was just calm. Was just sitting there not twitching, not making noise, nothing. And I sat there and cried. To just finally see him to be able to just rest,” Daniel said. Jaxon says the nightly cannabis gummy he takes allows him to focus in school and remain calm throughout the day.
